KUWAIT CITY, July 12: Hawally detectives have referred a case involving alleged threats and attempted arson to the Public Prosecution after both parties maintained their conflicting accounts during the investigation.

According to case details, classified as a misdemeanor, a Kuwaiti citizen born in 1989 filed a complaint on May 27, accusing another Kuwaiti citizen, born in 1970, of attempting to set him and a boat on fire. The plaintiff claimed the defendant poured gasoline on the boat—and on him—before trying to ignite it.

However, during questioning, the defendant admitted to pouring gasoline but denied any intent to harm. He stated that his purpose was merely to clean the boat, not to set it ablaze.

A security source noted that the detectives’ report supported the defendant’s version of events, concluding there was no clear evidence of intent to burn the victim or the vessel.
