KUWAIT: Minister of Public Works and Chairperson of the Cabinet’s Public Services Committee Dr Noura Al-Mashaan said on Sunday that the committee reviewed the latest procedural developments in several vital national projects and was briefed on the key short- and long-term executive plans submitted by concerned government agencies. The meeting also covered various technical and service-related aspects of these projects.
Speaking to KUNA after chairing the committee session at Seif Palace, attended by committee ministers, members and officials from several government agencies, Dr Al-Mashaan stressed the importance of unifying efforts and enhancing coordination among government bodies to implement the directives of Kuwait’s political leadership, raise government efficiency, and accelerate project completion.
She noted that the committee holds weekly meetings to follow up on implementation steps by government agencies on primarily technical and service-oriented projects, and to review proposals and recommendations submitted in detail. Sunday’s meeting featured a presentation of practical ideas aimed at improving coordination among agencies on development projects and environmental initiatives, contributing to the advancement of public services and the quality of state-implemented projects.
The committee includes Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar, Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari, and Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem.
Google Cloud partnership
In another development, Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar on Sunday affirmed that Kuwait’s cooperation with Google Cloud underscores the country’s commitment to adopting advanced digital solutions. He highlighted that cloud computing is a cornerstone for enhancing digital infrastructure and a key driver of development across various sectors.
Speaking to KUNA after attending a dialogue workshop organized by the National Cybersecurity Center in collaboration with Google Cloud, titled “Challenges of Adopting Cloud Computing,” Al-Omar said the initiative falls under the strategic partnership agreement between Kuwait and Google Cloud. The partnership aims to enable digital transformation, strengthen cloud services capabilities, and integrate cloud computing with cybersecurity systems to ensure data protection and the sustainability of digital services.
Head of the National Cybersecurity Center Abeer Al-Omar expressed her satisfaction with the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of reinforcing coordination with government ministers and national leaders to support Kuwait’s cybersecurity initiatives. During the workshop, she outlined key topics on data classification and handling mechanisms, highlighting their role in safeguarding information and ensuring the confidentiality and reliability of digital services. — KUNA
