KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Coast Guard, announced Sunday that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics into the country, with an estimated street value of KD 500,000. In a statement, the Interior Ministry’s Public Relations and Security Media Department reported that three Iranian nationals were apprehended in possession of approximately 125 kilograms of hashish, nine sticks of hashish, eight strips of Lyrica, and five bags of Captagon pills. The suspects had attempted to smuggle the contraband into Kuwait through its territorial waters.

According to the ministry, the operation was launched after the suspicious vessel was detected by the Coast Guard’s advanced radar system, which tracked its movements with high precision. As soon as the boat entered Kuwaiti waters, Coast Guard patrols swiftly intercepted it, surrounding and stopping the vessel before detaining the three smugglers along with the illicit substances. The suspects and the seized contraband have been referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
