Minister inaugurates Al-Wafra Specialized Healthcare Center

KUWAIT: Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi on Monday inaugurated the Al-Wafra Specialized Primary Healthcare Center, a key step in the ministry’s ongoing strategy to enhance access to healthcare services for citizens and residents across Kuwait. Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Dr Al-Awadhi affirmed that the launch of the center reflects the ministry’s commitment to expanding the scope of primary healthcare and delivering high-quality specialized medical services in close proximity to residential areas.

This, he noted, plays a vital role in easing the burden of transportation for patients and contributes to improving the overall quality of life, in alignment with Kuwait’s development vision and national health sustainability goals. The minister emphasized the ministry’s continued focus on improving healthcare accessibility, particularly in remote and newly developed areas, to meet the demands of the country’s growing population. He added that the Al-Wafra center represents a qualitative addition to the healthcare network, becoming the 26th primary healthcare facility within the Ahmadi Health Region.

The new center spans 3,000 square meters and operates seven days a week, from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, serving residents of Al-Wafra and neighboring areas. It offers a comprehensive range of medical and specialized services, including clinics for chronic disease management, ophthalmology, ENT (ear, nose and throat), dermatology, maternity care, and dentistry. In addition, the facility houses a fully equipped medical laboratory for diagnostic testing, four nursing clinics to deliver primary nursing care, and an integrated emergency clinic to ensure swift response to urgent cases.

Dr Al-Awadhi reiterated the ministry’s ongoing efforts to establish more model health centers in accordance with the highest international standards. These initiatives, he said, are part of a broader national plan to achieve sustainable healthcare development, fulfill the healthcare needs of both citizens and residents, and enhance the delivery of preventive and therapeutic services with efficiency and quality. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several senior health officials, including Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering Affairs and Projects Ibrahim Al-Naham, Assistant Undersecretary for Dental Affairs Dr Ahmed Asad, Assistant Undersecretary for Primary Health Care Affairs Dr Nadia Al-Juma, and Director of the Al-Ahmadi Health Zone Dr Bader Al-Otaibi. — KUNA

NBK urges customers to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with suspicious links, reinforcing its dedication to safeguarding the community from cyber threats. NBK advises customers to exercise caution and avoid being misled by deceptive shopping deals that promise steep discounts. The bank emphasizes the importance of verifying website URLs and refraining from clicking on links from unknown sources — especially those received via email that advertise offers that appear too good to be true.

Furthermore, NBK cautions customers about the risks of saving credit card details on e-commerce websites or browsers for faster future transactions. The bank highlights that such platforms are susceptible to security breaches, potentially exposing stored banking data to theft. The Bank also emphasizes that it will never request personal information via email, text messages, or phone calls. Additionally, NBK warns customers against responding to such messages, as they are often fraudulent attempts to steal banking credentials, sensitive data, or funds.

NBK remains vigilant in monitoring emerging fraud tactics, educating customers, and providing clear guidance on how to stay protected. Through comprehensive awareness materials shared across its digital platforms, the bank continuously emphasizes the importance of engaging only with trusted links and avoiding interactions with unidentified sources. Harnessing its vast communication capabilities, NBK utilizes all its digital channels — boasting the largest following among Kuwaiti banks — to ensure the widest dissemination of the campaign’s messages, effectively reaching the largest possible audience.

KUWAIT: Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah on Thursday announced the distribution of the first batch of hearing aids to citizens with hearing impairments, following a years-long suspension. The initiative aims to support their daily lives and enhance their ability to communicate and integrate into society. Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Dr Al-Huwailah emphasized that hearing aids are vital tools that enable individuals to lead independent lives and engage naturally with their surroundings.

“This is just the beginning,” she said, noting that subsequent batches will follow to meet all pending requests, with priority given based on the order of application. She also underscored the commitment of the Public Authority for the Disabled to continue providing a range of assistive and prosthetic devices—including wheelchairs and other essential equipment—to empower individuals with disabilities both psychologically and socially, and to further support their integration into the community. — KUNA
