KUWAIT CITY, July 8 : The Criminal Court on Monday adjourned the case of a citizen accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a nine-year-old Syrian in Maidan Hawally on the morning of the first day of Eid Al-Fitr. The verdict will be announced on July 14. The trial session witnessed a moving plea by Attorney Alaa Al-Saeedi — the victim’s representative, as she demanded the maximum penalty be imposed on the accused under Article 180 of the Penal Code; which stipulates the death penalty for anyone who kidnaps a person using force, threat or deception with the intent to rape or compel the latter to engage in prostitution.

Al-Saeedi revealed that the accused is a habitual offender and has a criminal record dating back to 2003, including kidnapping and assault on minors under the age of 18. She explained that the crime occurred while the child was on his way to perform Eid prayers; indicating the perpetrator lured him to his apartment, beat him, sexually assaulted him, and then left him on the street. She confirmed that the forensic evidence report proved that the child was assaulted, which strengthened the proof of the crime. She then stressed the need not to be lenient with the accused, reiterating that he has a criminal record.

KUWAIT CITY, July 10: A Jahra police investigator has requested the Criminal Investigation Department in Jahra to locate and bring in two Bedouns for questioning in a case classified as fraud and deception.

According to case details, a 45-year-old expatriate filed a complaint at Jahra Police Station, stating that he had a longstanding friendship with the two Bedouns. He claimed they had convinced him to invest in a business project involving the purchase of camels, asking him for KD 2,400 to buy the livestock and launch the project, promising him a share of the profits after the animals were sold.

The complainant said he transferred the money to them via the “WAMD” Bank service in four installments: KD 10 for the first, KD 390 for the second, and KD 1,000 each for the third and fourth installments.

However, after both Bedouns received the full amount, they began evading him and ignoring his calls. When he finally confronted them, they told him bluntly: “There is no Camel,” and refused to return the money without providing any reason or excuse.

The complainant noted that the incident occurred on March 28 in the Jahra area, in front of a well-known market.

Authorities plan to confront the accused with the victim’s statements and the supporting documents, including his bank balance and transfer records showing the money was sent from his account to the accounts of the defendants.

Kuwaiti Acquitted in Notorious Alcohol and Hashish Case

KUWAIT CITY, July 10: In a significant judicial development, a competent court issued a final ruling acquitting a citizen of all charges related to the possession and intended distribution of 96 bottles of imported alcoholic beverages and hashish allegedly intended for trafficking.

The ruling marks the conclusion of one of the most closely watched legal cases in recent months. The defense was led by Attorney Jarrah Al-Sharika, whose meticulous legal arguments were vital in securing the acquittal. The case has drawn attention due to the volume of contraband seized and the complexity of the legal procedures surrounding the arrest and investigation. However, Al-Sharika and his team successfully cited the procedural and evidentiary flaws in the case.

While the defense team chose not to disclose specific technical arguments — preserving them as part of the firm’s professional legal strategy– they emphasized that their arguments rested on solid legal foundations. Central to their case was the assertion that the evidence presented failed to meet the burden of proof required for a criminal conviction, particularly in cases involving serious charges such as drug and alcohol trafficking.

Commenting on the decision of the court, Al-Sharika asserted that “this ruling confirms the strength and prestige of the law when applied within its proper framework. It reinforces the fundamental legal principle that an accused person is innocent until proven guilty and reflects the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary when cases are approached with rational, methodical defenses. This outcome is another milestone in our firm’s ongoing efforts to uphold justice, protect individual rights, and strengthen the rule of law through unwavering professionalism.” The court’s decision to fully dismiss the charges and close the case was hailed by legal observers as a testament to the rigorous standards required for criminal convictions and the essential role of competent defense in maintaining the balance of justice.
