KUWAIT CITY, Aug 4: A minor fire that broke out early Monday morning in an electrical room at a building affiliated with Jahra Hospital was swiftly brought under control, according to the Ministry of Health. Officials confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported.

In an official statement, the ministry said the hospital’s safety systems responded immediately, with automatic fire sprinklers activating and the emergency response plan promptly implemented. Several patients in nearby areas were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Minister of Information and Acting Minister of Health, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, along with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, visited the site to oversee the situation firsthand.

The Ministry praised the swift and professional response of the General Fire Force, the Ministry of Interior, healthcare staff, and all supporting agencies, highlighting their coordination under established safety protocols.

The fire, which originated from electrical cables in the women’s observation room, resulted in smoke spreading through the air conditioning vents of the main building of the new Jahra Hospital. Firefighters from the Jahra and Industrial Fire Centers successfully extinguished the blaze.

The Ministry assured the public that any updates concerning service availability or further developments will be announced through official channels and extended its best wishes for everyone’s health and safety.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: A routine breach of trust complaint involving a rented vehicle has led Kuwaiti authorities to uncover a bigger crime, an expatriate wanted for fraud worth KD 6,500.

According to security sources, the case came to light when a 49-year-old expat, managing a local car rental agency, reported to the Maidan Hawally police station that a customer had failed to return a 2024 Japanese model car rented since March 17, 2025. The 39-year-old man had simply vanished with the vehicle.

The case was promptly referred to detectives, who tracked down the suspect’s residence, where both the individual and the missing car were found. Upon questioning, the suspect admitted to the breach of trust.

But the case took a twist when authorities discovered the man was already wanted for a separate fraud case involving KD 6,500. He has since been handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3:  A major security crackdown across Kuwait’s Ahmadi Governorate has led to the arrest of 18 individuals on a range of charges, including expired visas, residency violations, and labor law offences. One suspect wanted in connection with a criminal case was also apprehended and is set to serve a four-year prison sentence.

The coordinated campaign, described by authorities as “qualitative,” was launched by the Ahmadi Security Directorate in cooperation with Kuwait Municipality. It was carried out under the direct supervision of Major General Hamad Al-Munifi, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs, and Brigadier General Hussein Dashti, Director General of the Ahmadi Security Directorate.

Among those arrested were six individuals violating labor laws, four with expired residency permits, five reported absent from their employers, and three overstaying their visit visas. Additionally, 12 people were detained for failing to produce valid identification.

Security forces also seized a vehicle involved in a breach of trust case and a motorcycle. Eight mobile caravans and 11 abandoned vehicles were removed from the streets, while officers issued 200 traffic citations during the operation, which deployed 10 separate security units across the region.

Authorities stressed that security campaigns will continue in Ahmadi to clamp down on lawbreakers, reckless drivers, and anyone found violating residency or traffic regulations.
