KUWAIT: Kuwait made a distinguished contribution to the 18th “We Are Inclusion” World Conference, hosted by Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services in cooperation with the International Organization for Inclusive Education, under the patronage of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The global gathering brought together 152 speakers, including self-advocates, families, experts, and policymakers representing 160 institutions across 74 countries. More than 600 participants attended 59 sessions that explored diverse aspects of disability rights and inclusive practices.
Rihab Bouresli, Chair of the Kuwaiti Association for Families of Persons with Disabilities and member of the UN Committee of Experts on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, praised the event as an embodiment of a global humanitarian vision and a serious commitment to advancing the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities. Bouresli expressed pride in Kuwait’s active role, noting that its participation reinforced the country’s position as both a supporter and an influential partner on the international stage. She emphasized the importance of the conference in empowering self-advocates, strengthening decision-making skills, and framing disability issues within a human rights context.

Sessions addressed themes including inclusive health, legal empowerment, employment, social innovation, education, leadership, and social protection. The conference also highlighted successful international experiences, policy development, and partnerships among civil society, governments, and the private sector. Bouresli congratulated Sheikha Jamila bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, President of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, on the success of the summit. She noted the recognition of Sheikha Jamila with permanent honorary membership in Inclusive International, in tribute to her contributions to promoting the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities and their families worldwide.
Kuwait’s delegation reflected the diversity of its efforts in supporting people with disabilities, including representatives from associations, sports clubs, and families. Notable participants included Hana Al-Zawawi, Sadika Al-Ansari, Huda Al-Khalidi, Hessa Al-Aslami, Dr Adila Al-Mekimi, Nisiba Al-Metrouk, Linda Jaber, Jassim Al-Badr, and Jassim Ahmed. Self-advocates such as Ali Al-Shaie, Mohammed Al-Hajji, Bader Al-Suwaidan, Ali Shihab, Mishaal Al-Badr, Ahmed Al-Mekimi and Al-Zain Jassim also represented Kuwait.
Among the distinguished Kuwaiti figures was Dr Hashim Taqi, Regional President of the Comprehensive Inclusion Organization for the Middle East and North Africa, who, alongside Bouresli, was honored by Inclusive International as one of the most inspiring figures globally for longstanding efforts in advocacy and social integration. Bouresli stressed that the real impact begins after the conference through the implementation of its outcomes, transfer of successful experiences, and development of local programs to strengthen social integration and empower persons with disabilities to contribute effectively to Kuwait’s national development.
KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Monday Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, who presented to HH the Amir a report on the preparations for the new 2025-2026 academic year and briefed him on the new curricula.
HH the Amir praised the efforts of the ministry of education to meet the needs of school students and foster the talents of a creative generation. He emphasized the importance of early preparation and attention to developmental requirements, wishing all students success in their studies. — KUNA

KUWAIT: Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr Adarsh Swaika hosted a farewell diwaniya, on Sunday, at the Indian Embassy, to mark the end of his diplomatic mission in the country. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Swaika stated “I wanted to bid farewell to Kuwait in a meaningful way by hosting a final gathering in the traditional form of a diwaniya. This is a beautiful tradition that has always been close to my heart during the past three years I spent here.”
Ambassador Swaika highlighted that the evening provided an opportunity to reconnect with friends and partners with whom he had worked closely during his tenure in Kuwait, noting the strong bonds and successful projects they shared. He concluded “I will carry the memory of this wonderful diwaniya as one of the most special moments of my time in Kuwait. Perhaps it would be a great idea to organize a similar gathering for ambassadors in Kenya, and I will do my best to make it happen.”
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including the Governor of Jahra, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, former president of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society Hilal Al-Sayer, and the former Minister of Health. Also present were a number of leading newspaper editors-in-chief, political commentators, the Secretary General of OPEC, and the Director General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters.
