KUWAIT: The Embassy of the Republic of Guinea in Kuwait held a reception Thursday marking its 67th National Day. On the sidelines of the event, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Nayef Mohammed Al-Mudhaf highlighted the depth of Kuwaiti–Guinean relations, describing them as long-standing and rooted in history.
He noted that the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has extended around 14 loans to Guinea, totaling nearly KD 64 million, which have financed key infrastructure projects, particularly major road networks that have significantly improved daily life in the country.
Al-Mudhaf added that trade between the two countries is satisfactory. “We currently have around five agreements under negotiation, including a labor agreement expected to be finalized soon,” he said.
He also reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to diversifying its labor sources through partnerships with several African nations. “Kuwait represents a major market, and we are open and ready to explore and sign any new agreements with interested countries,” he said.
Ambassador of Guinea to Kuwait Mamady Traoré praised Kuwait as a “privileged and steadfast partner” in his country’s development. He highlighted the fruitful cooperation that defined relations between the two countries for decades. “The Republic of Guinea highly appreciates the exceptional quality of Guinean–Kuwaiti relations, which have translated into tangible projects that touch vital sectors such as infrastructure, health, education and rural development,” he said.
The ambassador underscored landmark infrastructure projects funded by the Kuwait Fund, including the Bembeto Interchange — set to be inaugurated soon — and the Enco 5 Roundabout, which is scheduled to begin construction early next year. “These developments will greatly improve the daily lives of our citizens in Conakry, easing mobility and supporting economic activity,” he added.
He also noted that under the leadership of General Mamady Doumbouya, Guinea is undergoing a comprehensive transformation focused on good governance, anti-corruption efforts and modernization of key sectors such as infrastructure, education and energy. “Guinea is advancing — it is on the move toward reforms, stability and irreversible socio-economic development,” he affirmed.
On behalf of President Doumbouya, the ambassador extended deep appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and Abdullah Al-Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, for their steadfast support in strengthening Guinean–Kuwaiti relations. He also commended the Guinean community in Kuwait for their patriotism and exemplary conduct, urging them to continue representing their homeland with dignity and respect for Kuwaiti laws.
