KUWAIT CITY, Oct 9: Kuwait Municipality launched a large-scale, coordinated inspection campaign across all six governorates on Thursday to combat road encroachments and unauthorized land use, as part of a broader effort to enforce municipal regulations and maintain public order.

The campaign, described as one of the most extensive to date, focuses on monitoring road occupations, detecting violations, and curbing illegal exploitation of public spaces—particularly in commercial and densely populated areas.

Speaking during one of the inspection tours in Mahboula, Head of the Inspection Team in Ahmadi Governorate, Abdulaziz Al-Hajri, said the field operations aim to uncover violations and ensure all necessary legal measures are applied against offenders.

Al-Hajri noted that the Public Cleanliness and Road Occupations Department issued 12 citations in Mahboula for road encroachments and the unlicensed use of space in front of shops. These violations often obstruct traffic, hinder public access, and disrupt urban planning standards.

He confirmed that inspection teams continue to conduct field tours throughout areas under their jurisdiction to monitor and document any infractions.

“The inspection teams of the Kuwait Municipality will not hesitate to implement control measures as stipulated under the cleanliness regulations,” Al-Hajri affirmed, adding that strict compliance with laws and regulations is expected of all property and business owners.

Al-Hajri emphasized the importance of public cooperation, urging all individuals and businesses to adhere to municipal laws and avoid unauthorized use of public space.

He further stressed that sanitation and inspection departments in all six governorates are fully committed to upholding Kuwait Municipality’s systems and directives through persistent field campaigns and enforcement actions.

The municipality’s campaign reflects its ongoing efforts to preserve urban order, promote public safety, and ensure proper use of shared infrastructure across Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 12: An expatriate has filed a complaint at the Al-Qashaniyyah Police Station, accusing a colleague of phone misuse that resulted in significant personal and professional harm, including the loss of his job. He also announced his intention to file a compensation lawsuit against the individual responsible for the incident.

According to case documents, the complainant, born in 1984, submitted a video transcript as evidence, showing him asleep during work hours. He alleged that his colleague, who is of the same nationality and born in 1983, secretly filmed him while he was resting on the job. The colleague then sent the footage to their immediate supervisor and later to the department head.

The situation escalated when the supervisor forwarded the same video back to the complainant, accompanied by an official termination letter citing negligence in the performance of his duties.

The expatriate denied being negligent, explaining that he was simply exhausted and momentarily fell asleep. He described the act of filming and circulating the video as a deliberate attempt to harm his reputation and career.

In a surprising twist, the complainant added that he had previously intervened on behalf of the very colleague who recorded and reported him, making the betrayal even more distressing.

Authorities have registered the case and initiated investigations into the complaint of phone misuse and defamation.
