KUWAIT CITY, May 13: The body of a domestic worker who allegedly died by suicide was discovered at his sponsor’s residence in the Sabah Al-Nasser area and has been transferred to the forensic medicine department for examination.

According to the Ministry of Interior, a citizen reported to the operations room that he had found his domestic worker hanging in his room. Security personnel and forensic teams immediately responded to the scene, where they discovered the worker had used a rope tied to the ceiling to hang himself. Authorities have registered a case and assigned detectives to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

KUWAIT CITY, June 3: The General Fire Force conducted an inspection campaign Monday evening in the Al-Raiq’i area, in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower, the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, the Environment Public Authority, and Kuwait Municipality.

The campaign targeted buildings and establishments that violated fire safety and prevention regulations.

Several violations were recorded, and a number of establishments were administratively closed for failing to meet the safety standards of the General Fire Force and other participating authorities.

KUWAIT CITY, June 2: The Criminal Court has issued its verdict in a high-profile theft and money laundering case involving the embezzlement of more than KD 800,000 from a jewelry company. Four individuals, an Indian expat employee of the company, a Pakistani jewelry vendor, a Kuwaiti woman, and her daughter, were convicted in connection with the crime.

The court sentenced the Indian employee, who was present during the proceedings, and the Pakistani vendor, who was tried in absentia, to 10 years of imprisonment with hard labor. The Kuwaiti woman was sentenced to five years with hard labor, while her daughter received a five-year suspended sentence, conditional upon a KD 5,000 bail. All four defendants were jointly fined KD 809,000. Additionally, the court referred the civil lawsuit filed by the affected jewelry company to the appropriate judicial authority.

Investigations revealed that the Indian employee had been systematically stealing jewelry, gold ornaments, and cash from the company over a period extending from 2002 until the end of 2024. Upon his arrest, he confessed to working with a Pakistani vendor who sold the stolen items and later fled the country. He also implicated a Kuwaiti woman and her daughter, accusing them of inciting and participating in the theft.

The case highlights the importance of internal oversight in high-value sectors and reinforces Kuwait’s commitment to prosecuting financial crimes and protecting commercial entities from internal fraud.

Kuwait Authorities Urge Strict Safety Measures Following Al-Riggae Fire

KUWAIT CITY, June 2: Acting Chief of the General Fire Force, Brigadier General Mohammed Ali Al-Qahtani, conducted a field inspection on Monday at the site of a fire that broke out in a residential building in the Riggae area on Sunday morning. He was accompanied by Acting Deputy Chief of the Firefighting Sector, Brigadier General Omar Abdulaziz Hamad, along with several senior officials from the Fire Force.

During the site visit, Brigadier General Al-Qahtani was briefed on the incident’s circumstances and emphasized the critical importance of complying with established safety and fire prevention regulations. He cautioned property owners against overcrowding residential buildings. He warned of the severe risks posed by obstructed entrances or locked rooftop doors, which can hinder evacuation efforts and jeopardize lives during emergencies.
