Wife of Bangladeshi ex-MP doing time in Kuwait arrested

KUWAIT CITY, May 13: Bangladeshi police have arrested former Member of Parliament Salina Islam, the wife of ex-lawmaker Mohammad Shahid Islam who is currently serving a prison sentence in Kuwait. According to local news reports in Bangladesh, Salina Islam is facing multiple criminal charges, including human trafficking and illegal sand extraction from the Meghna River — a major waterway in Bangladesh. Authorities have not yet confirmed which charges will be formally filed first. The deputy commissioner of the Dhaka South Investigation Branch disclosed that “Salina is accused of involvement in several criminal cases, but we have yet to determine which of these cases will be referred to the prosecution first.” Salina Islam’s arrest adds another layer to the ongoing legal saga involving her husband, who was previously convicted in Kuwait on charges related to human trafficking and money laundering.

Expat Scammed in Online Phone Sale, Robbed of Phone and Wallet

KUWAIT CITY, May 13:  The Criminal Security Sector has successfully closed a theft case with the arrest of a young Gulf national, who was positively identified by the victim during a legal line-up.

According to security sources, the victim, an expatriate born in 1982, filed a report at the Hawally Police Station stating that he had recently received an iPhone through a telecom company contract. After deciding he no longer needed the device, he listed it for sale on social media. “Two days later, a man contacted me expressing interest in buying the phone. We agreed on a price, and I sent him my home location,” the victim reported. “He came to the basement of my building, asked to inspect the phone and see my civil ID, and then suddenly disappeared with both my smartphone and wallet.” The victim noted that the stolen wallet contained KD 1,860.

Following the report, detectives traced the phone number used by the suspect and set up a sting operation. The suspect, a Gulf national, was arrested outside his residence in Jahra Governorate. Confronted with evidence, including surveillance footage of the incident, he confessed to the crime. He claimed to have resold the stolen iPhone to a store in the Capital Governorate and admitted to spending the stolen cash.

Kuwaiti Citizen Arrested for Car Theft and Robbery in Salwa

KUWAIT CITY, May 13:  Criminal Investigation Department officers have arrested a Kuwaiti citizen in his thirties while he was attempting to steal a car in the Salwa area. The suspect, who has a known history of drug abuse, was caught during a carefully planned ambush and has since been referred to the Public Prosecution.

According to security sources, the arrest follows a spike in car thefts and robberies in the Salwa and Salmiya areas. After 48 hours of intensive investigation, officers identified the suspect and caught him in the act, with several stolen items in his possession.

During questioning, the accused admitted to stealing from vehicles and robbing individuals, mostly Asian residents, to fund his drug purchases. Authorities have opened further investigations, and legal proceedings are underway.

Forensics Called As Domestic Worker Found Hanging In Employer’s Home

KUWAIT CITY, May 13: The body of a domestic worker who allegedly died by suicide was discovered at his sponsor’s residence in the Sabah Al-Nasser area and has been transferred to the forensic medicine department for examination.

According to the Ministry of Interior, a citizen reported to the operations room that he had found his domestic worker hanging in his room. Security personnel and forensic teams immediately responded to the scene, where they discovered the worker had used a rope tied to the ceiling to hang himself. Authorities have registered a case and assigned detectives to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
