Gun found as car flips over at nature reserve, Kuwaiti arrested

KUWAIT CITY, March 25: A vehicle overturned in the Umm Qudair Nature Reserve leading to the discovery of a firearm. Environmental police officers detained a Kuwaiti youth after he and two others, who required medical treatment, entered the reserve on charges of firearm possession and trespassing in a restricted area.
According to a security source, the officers noticed a four-wheel- drive vehicle inside the reserve. When the driver saw the officers, he attempted to flee, causing the vehicle to overturn. The accident left two individuals injured, one suffered fractures and was transported to Al-Razi Hospital, while the other sustained wounds and bruises and was taken to Al-Adan Hospital. The third individual was uninjured, the source disclosed. The source stated that a search of the vehicle revealed a firearm, which is believed to be an unlicensed hunting weapon. Visiting nature reserves requires a permit because these areas are protected to prevent illegal hunting and preserve wildlife, the source explained.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: The General Administration of Customs has foiled an attempt to smuggle 35 cartons of cigarettes concealed inside a vehicle’s interior at the Al-Salmi border crossing. During departure procedures for a vehicle driven by a Saudi national, a customs inspector grew suspicious due to the driver’s record of a previous violation at another port. Acting on this suspicion, inspectors carried out a meticulous search of the vehicle. The inspection uncovered 35 cartons of cigarettes hidden within the car’s interior, packed in a professional manner that made detection difficult.
