KUWAIT CITY, March 30: Hawally detectives successfully apprehended an expatriate who brazenly stole money from a fellow citizen at a local bank, despite being under close surveillance by security cameras.

According to a security source, the victim—an expatriate—filed a report stating that while he was waiting inside the bank with a small bag beside him, KD 50 was stolen from it. However, he refrained from accusing anyone at the time. The source added that the case was handed over to detectives, who reviewed the bank’s CCTV footage to identify and arrest the suspect. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the theft, admitting that he had noticed the victim’s bag open with the money visible, prompting him to steal it—unaware that he was being monitored.

The suspect further revealed that after committing the theft, he considered returning to the bank to hand the money back to the victim under the pretense of having found it, but ultimately decided against it. The accused has since been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
