Kuwait nabs 184 underage drivers

A file photo from a previous traffic campaign in Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, July 12: As part of the ongoing efforts of the General Traffic Department to track down juveniles driving without a license, 184 juveniles were arrested in June and early July and then referred to the Juvenile Prosecution for legal action. Statistics from the department showed that 64 of the abovementioned juveniles were arrested in the first week of June.

A security source confirmed that traffic patrols are intensifying efforts to apprehend juveniles driving without a license and to take legal action against their parents. The source added that security campaigns targeting juveniles intensified during the summer vacation, due to the prevalence of juveniles who are driving within this period, particularly at night. The source called on the parents to closely monitor their children and not to give them vehicles for any reason in order to avoid legal accountability.
