Kuwait Customs thwarts smuggling of guns and ammo

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11: In a significant security success, the General Administration of Customs announced the interception of two separate attempts to smuggle unlicensed firearms and ammunition through the Abdali border crossing.

According to officials, customs inspectors apprehended a Kuwaiti citizen arriving from the Republic of Iraq after discovering two unlicensed 9mm Glock pistols in his possession, along with 50 rounds of corresponding ammunition. The weapons were concealed in a manner aimed at evading detection.

In a separate incident, inspectors arrested an Iraqi national working as a passenger transport driver who was attempting to exit Kuwait en route to Iraq. Upon inspection, authorities uncovered 1,395 rounds of 12mm shotgun ammunition hidden in secret compartments within his vehicle.

All confiscated items were handed over to the Ministry of Interior for further investigation and legal action.

The General Administration of Customs reiterated its firm stance against the smuggling of weapons and ammunition, emphasizing its commitment to strengthening inspection procedures across all land, sea, and air entry points. Authorities affirmed that they will take all necessary legal measures against violators to safeguard national security and public safety.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: The General Fire Force (GFF) conducted a thorough inspection campaign in Shuwaikh Industrial Area 2 on Tuesday evening, in collaboration with key government entities, including the Ministry of Commerce, the Public Authority for Industry, and Kuwait Municipality.

The initiative aimed to identify buildings and facilities that were non-compliant with fire safety and prevention regulations.

As a result of the campaign, 55 industrial establishments and shops were administratively closed for failing to meet the required safety standards. In addition, 83 other establishments were issued notices for not adhering to the General Fire Force’s safety guidelines.
