Committee reviews projects, MoUs, latest developments

KUWAIT: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Monday chaired the 27th meeting of the ministerial committee tasked with following up on the implementation of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between the governments of Kuwait and China. The session was held at Bayan Palace. The meeting reviewed the latest developments in projects covered by the MoUs, including cooperation on the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, electrical power systems and renewable energy development, low-carbon green waste recycling systems, housing development, environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment plants, and the establishment of free and economic zones.

Officials also examined the outcomes of recent visits by Chinese delegations focused on environmental cooperation, afforestation and combating desertification. His Highness the Prime Minister directed committee members to closely monitor the implementation of agreements with major Chinese state-owned companies, emphasizing adherence to strategic plans to achieve the targeted outcomes within the scheduled timeframe.

Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and rapporteur of the committee, said the meeting addressed follow-up on key development projects and discussed the agenda for the upcoming visit of official Chinese delegations, aimed at enhancing cooperation in renewable and clean energy. He added that implementation procedures will begin for the Chinese state-owned company assigned to phases 3 and 4 of the Abdaliyah and Shagaya renewable energy projects.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Head of the Diwan of the Prime Minister Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil; Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Mohammed Al-Mashaan; Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Housing Abdullatif Hamed Al-Mishari; Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Acting Minister of Finance Dr Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem; Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah; Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Ateeq Al-Majed; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr Abdullah Meshaal Mubarak Al-Sabah and Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat. — KUNA
