Makin Club enhances psychological support for cancer patients

KUWAIT: Dr Iman Al-Shammari, Secretary of the National Cancer Awareness Campaign (CAN) and President of the Makin Club for Psychological Support of Cancer Patients, affirmed the club’s commitment to implementing a range of monthly activities aimed at supporting cancer patients and survivors. These initiatives are executed within a well-structured strategy by a highly trained and dedicated team, offering impactful awareness and recreational programs.

In line with the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, known for its generosity and blessings, Makin Club recently hosted a religious lecture at its headquarters in Qadisiyah, located within the Kuwait Society for Preventing Smoking and Cancer. The event provided an opportunity for club members to engage with cancer survivors in a spiritually uplifting environment, fostering psychological and social support among attendees.

Recognizing Ramadan as a time of giving, Makin Club took the initiative to distribute healthy Qirqaian and gifts to cancer patients at the National Bank of Kuwait Specialized Hospital. This thoughtful gesture aimed to bring joy to patients, particularly children, by allowing them to partake in the festive atmosphere. Such activities play a crucial role in boosting their morale, enhancing their emotional well-being, and encouraging a positive outlook on their treatment journey.

KRCS signs cooperation deal to accredit first aid, CPR courses

KUWAIT: The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday with the American Institute for Safety and Health to accredit its first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and public safety training programs. KRCS Chairman Khaled Al-Mughamis said the agreement reflects the society’s vision to develop its training programs, expand international partnerships and strengthen its humanitarian role in emergency response.

He noted that the agreement covers a wide range of general and specialized medical courses aimed at saving lives and enhancing the skills of healthcare providers, medical personnel, volunteers and community members through the society’s accredited training center. Al-Mughamis explained that certificates for courses in first aid, CPR and public safety will now carry official accreditation. The American Institute will provide all required documentation for the programs, including approval of the course content and trainee certifications..

He added that the agreement will boost cooperation in the fields of health and vocational training, supporting the society’s mission of spreading awareness, building knowledge and developing human capacities. KUWAIT: Namaa Charity, an affiliate of the Social Reform Society, on Tuesday launched the Humanitarian Hub platform (https://humanitarian-hub.org), designed to equip charitable institutions with modern tools that enhance efficiency and enable a shift from short-term relief to long-term sustainable impact. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Namaa Charity CEO Saad Al-Otaibi said the initiative coincides with the anniversary of Kuwait being designated by the United Nations as a “Humanitarian Hub.”

He described the platform as “a bridge between thought and practice,” offering advanced cognitive and applied tools to strengthen transparency, governance, innovation and financial sustainability across the non-profit sector. Al-Otaibi noted that the platform will feature a range of projects and resources, including Humanitarian Hub Magazine as a regular publication on emerging trends, practical guides such as the “AI in Charitable Work” manual, and digital tools like an impact analysis mechanism and a performance dashboard to track operational and financial indicators in real time.
