Kuwait maintains global leadership in humanitarian field

KUWAIT: Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), Ambassador Khaled Al-Mughamis, affirmed that Kuwait, under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, continues to play a pioneering role on the international stage in the fields of relief and humanitarian work.

Speaking at the opening of an introductory course on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Al-Mughamis emphasized that Kuwait’s humanitarian contributions aim to uphold human dignity, improve living conditions, and provide vital assistance to the most vulnerable groups. These efforts, he said, extend to those impacted by wars, conflicts, natural disasters and socio-economic crises across the globe.

He praised the strong bilateral relations between KRCS and the ICRC, highlighting the fruitful collaboration in disseminating international humanitarian law and implementing humanitarian support programs. Al-Mughamis noted that the society has bolstered its partnership with the ICRC to improve the lives of individuals affected by crises in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Somalia and Palestine.

Al-Mughamis also lauded the ICRC’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian work and its efforts to alleviate the suffering of afflicted populations worldwide. He emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the two organizations, describing it as a strategic and practical partnership rooted in shared humanitarian values. — KUNA
