KUWAIT: The International University for Science and Technology (IUST) announced it will host the 57th General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities (AARU) on April 23 and 24 under the theme “Arab Higher Education in Light of Digital Transformation and Enhancing Regional Integration.” In a press statement issued Monday, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr Barakat Al-Hudaiban said the high-level conference will welcome ministers of education from across the Arab world, in addition to presidents of over 250 Arab universities.
The event serves as a prominent platform for academic dialogue and regional cooperation, aimed at strengthening the development of the Arab higher education sector. Dr Al-Hudaiban affirmed that the conference aligns with the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, who have both emphasized the importance of advancing education and investing in human capital as a foundation for sustainable development, security and regional stability.
He added that the conference comes at a critical time amid accelerating technological transformations, the rise of artificial intelligence, and the expansion of digital and e-learning programs. These advancements, he noted, are reshaping academic landscapes and require institutions to prepare graduates for the evolving needs of the labor market. Highlighting IUST’s commitment to fostering a unified vision among Arab academic institutions, Dr Al-Hudaiban underscored the university’s full support for AARU’s initiatives and the implementation of conference recommendations.
He stressed the importance of empowering Arab youth with the tools of innovation and global competitiveness while deepening academic partnerships across the Arab and Gulf regions.
Dr Al-Hudaiban extended his gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, and the General Secretariat of the Private Universities Council for their support in facilitating the conference. He also praised the efforts of the Association of Arab Universities—affiliated with the League of Arab States—for selecting IUST as the host institution, reflecting shared aspirations for scientific advancement and knowledge-based development. – KUNA
