KUWAIT: Colonel Yousef Khalil Al-Shatti of the Kuwaiti Navy has set a new Guinness World Record for Kuwait by achieving the title of “Fastest Marathon Run in Full Military Gear,” during an event held in Portugal.
The Kuwaiti Army’s General Staff announced in a press release that Colonel Al-Shatti successfully completed the full marathon distance of 42 kilometers (approximately 26.2 miles) wearing complete military attire, including a helmet and a bulletproof vest, with a record-breaking time of 3 hours, 39 minutes, and 35 seconds.
This surpassed the previous record of 3 hours, 40 minutes, and 7 seconds. This achievement marks Colonel Al-Shatti’s second Guinness World Record. In February 2023, he had previously earned a world title for Kuwait by winning the “Fastest Swim Across a Marine Bay (Men’s Category).”
