Fire contained at Naeem scrapyard with no injuries reported

Kuwait’s fire force teams contain the fire at Al-Naeem scrapyard; no injuries reported.

KUWAIT CITY, May 12: Five firefighting teams successfully contained a blaze that broke out Monday at a vehicle scrapyard in the Al-Naeem area of Salmi, the Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) confirmed in a statement.

The fire was swiftly brought under control, and no injuries were reported. The KFSD credited the rapid response of the fire brigades with limiting the spread of the flames and ensuring the situation was quickly managed.

KUWAIT CITY, May 12: As part of its ongoing security strategy to combat drug-related crimes and enhance public safety, the Criminal Security Sector—through operations conducted by the General Department for Combating Drugs—has successfully apprehended an illegal resident found in possession of large quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances.

During the raid, authorities seized approximately 115,000 capsules of the narcotic drug Lyrica, 5 kilograms of Lyrica powder, and 24 liters of hashish oil. Additionally, various devices and tools used in the manufacturing and preparation of drugs were recovered, along with a quantity of live ammunition found in the suspect’s possession.

The suspect and all confiscated items have been referred to the Drugs and Alcohol Prosecution Office for legal proceedings.

The General Department of Narcotics Control reaffirmed its commitment to continuing intensive operations aimed at apprehending individuals involved in drug trafficking and distribution, to safeguard society and protect citizens from the dangers of narcotics.

440 Residence and Labor Law Violators Arrested in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, May 12: As part of ongoing security efforts to apprehend Residency and Labor Law violators, the General Department of Residency Affairs Investigations conducted intensive security campaigns across all governorates. These operations, carried out in cooperation with the relevant authorities, took place between April 30 and May 9, 2025.

440 individuals were arrested for violating Residency and Labor regulations during the campaign.

These efforts are part of a comprehensive security strategy aimed at identifying illegal workers, monitoring the status of undocumented residents, curbing residency-related violations, and enforcing the laws and regulations governing employment and residency in the country.

Legal action has been initiated against the arrested individuals, who have been referred to the appropriate authorities for further proceedings.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that such security campaigns are ongoing throughout all regions of Kuwait. It reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the law and stated that accountability will apply equally to workers and employers found in violation, without exception.
