KUWAIT: His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received on Tuesday at Bayan Palace John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and his accompanying delegation, on the occasion of his visit to the country. The Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousuf Saud Al-Sabah attended the audience. Also attending were the Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan Abdulaziz Al-Dekheel, the adviser at the diwan Sheikh Dr Bassel Humoud Hamad Al-Sabah, Director of the Crown Prince Diwan (retired Lieut Gen) Jamal Al-Thiab, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary at the Crown Prince Diwan Mazen Issa Al-Issa and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asia Affairs Ambassador Samih Johar Hayat. – KUNA
KUWAIT: Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah held official talks on Monday with Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) John Lee Ka-Chiu at Bayan Palace. The meeting highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Kuwait and Hong Kong and explored avenues to enhance cooperation across economic, investment, cultural and scientific sectors. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Following the discussions, Kuwait and Hong Kong signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at promoting direct investment between the two regions. The first agreement was signed by Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Acting Assistant Director General for Investment Promotion Loretta Li. A second MoU was signed between KDIPA and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council of the People’s Republic of China. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Kuwaiti side by Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and on behalf of the Hong Kong side by Executive Director of the HKSAR Trade Development Council Margaret Fong.

The talks were attended by a number of senior Kuwaiti officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shareeda Abdullah Al-Maousherji, Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Mohammed Al-Mashaan, Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Saud Al-Omar, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Abdullah Al-Ajeel, and Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Noura Sulaiman Al-Fassam.
Also present were Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Hamed Al-Meshari, Advisor at the Prime Minister’s Diwan and Head of the accompanying honorary mission Sheikh Dr Basil Humoud Al-Sabah, Undersecretary for Financial, Administrative and Communication Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Diwan Sheikh Khaled Mohammed Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority Sheikh Saud Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat.
The Hong Kong delegation was composed of senior officials accompanying the Chief Executive. Later, Sheikh Fahad hosted an official luncheon in honor of the visiting dignitary and his accompanying delegation. The Chief Executive of the HKSAR and his delegation arrived in Kuwait on Sunday evening on an official visit. Upon arrival at Kuwait International Airport, they were received by Sheikh Dr Basil Humoud Al-Sabah and senior officials from the State and the Prime Minister’s Diwan. — KUNA
