HONG KONG: Kuwait’s Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau, Ambassador Nasser Al-Ghanim, on Thursday reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to the goals of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), noting Kuwait was among the first countries to join the initiative in 2014. He emphasized that the BRI’s objectives align closely with Kuwait’s Vision 2035 development strategy.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Summit, Al-Ghanim said Kuwait values the efforts of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in organizing the prominent global forum. He added that Kuwait is keen to participate effectively, represented by a diverse delegation including the Ministry of Finance, the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) and Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC).

Al-Ghanim highlighted Kuwait’s focus on strategic sectors such as infrastructure, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, green technology, trade, investment and innovation, describing them as key drivers for sustainable growth and smart city development. He stressed the importance of collective action to address global challenges, including cybersecurity threats, the digital divide, market fluctuations and geopolitical tensions, calling for stronger regional and international partnerships to safeguard supply chains and boost cooperation.
He further underscored Kuwait’s open policy and attractive investment environment, urging international partners to seize opportunities offered through the country’s major development projects under Vision 2035. Kuwait’s stability, security, strategic location and investment potential, he affirmed, position it as a distinguished regional and global hub. Al-Ghanim concluded by reiterating Kuwait’s readiness to enhance cooperation and achieve mutual benefits with its BRI partners. — KUNA
