KUWAIT: Kuwait’s government is set to strengthen cooperation with hotels and travel agencies to enhance the country’s tourism sector, Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi said Thursday. Speaking at a meeting with hotel managers and travel agency directors, Al-Mutairi highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in promoting tourism while addressing challenges facing the sector.
“Kuwait has the natural and infrastructural assets to drive tourism growth, contribute to GDP, and create opportunities for young Kuwaiti investors,” he said, noting that international hotel chains in the country could play a key role if fully leveraged.
On cooperation with travel agencies, Al-Mutairi said the sector could offer comprehensive services from booking flights to arranging accommodation and transportation, giving tourists a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience.
“Our wise leadership, guided by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, is fully supporting the development of tourism in the country, including the launch of the Visit Kuwait platform,” Al-Mutairi said.
The platform, he explained, serves as a comprehensive tourism hub, offering electronic visa services, an interactive map highlighting destinations and services, a smart assistant named Rashid for inquiries, and access to promotions and discounts that support the private sector while enriching visitor experiences. Al-Mutairi emphasized that Visit Kuwait consolidates both government and private initiatives, creating opportunities for investment in hotels, restaurants, transport, entertainment, and sports, while reflecting Kuwaiti hospitality and culture. “It says to every visitor: ‘Kuwait welcomes you,’ and positions the country more prominently on the global tourism map,” he added.
Sulaiman Al-Gharib, a member of the Visit Kuwait team, presented a visual overview of partnership opportunities with hotels and agencies, including event listings, promotions and discounts on the platform.
The meeting also discussed strategies to attract tourists, develop the hotel and tourism sectors, and address challenges affecting all stakeholders involved in these strategic collaborations. — KUNA
