Expat Prevented From Leaving Kuwait for Carrying Two Cartons of Cigarettes

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: Officers at the Nuwaiseeb Customs checkpoint stopped an expatriate from leaving the country and filed a smuggling case against him. His vehicle was also sent to the impound lot. The incident occurred as the man attempted to smuggle two cartons of cigarettes while exiting Kuwait for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to a customs source, officers discovered the concealed cigarettes after scanning the expatriate’s vehicle with inspection devices. The contraband was confiscated, and the man—who reportedly fainted upon being caught—was prevented from traveling. After he regained consciousness, he was referred to the impound authorities for further legal action.
