KUWAIT: The interior ministry said authorities have deported an unspecified number of expats for fighting in public and referred several Kuwaitis for investigation over the same problem. Police conducted an intensive field campaign targeting shopping malls that have witnessed repeated brawls – some involving the use of bladed weapons – in addition to other public violations.
The ministry said police arrested 20 Kuwaiti and expat troublemakers who were involved in brawling and instigating problems. Additionally, four individuals were apprehended for violating public decency laws, while four others were detained for smoking in enclosed public spaces.
Separately, two breweries manufacturing local liquor at farms in Abdaly were busted and a number of foreigners were arrested, the interior ministry announced. Security authorities were alerted by an inspector of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources, who suspected the behavior of expat workers at a farm. When it was raided, police found a brewery manufacturing local liquor and related equipment. The expat renter of the farm was arrested and he led security men to another illegal brewery in the same area.
