KUWAIT: The National Committee for the Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security held its inaugural coordination meeting on Wednesday, chaired by the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Key topics on the agenda included the future direction of the committee’s work and a review of the national strategy in line with the continued implementation of UNSC Resolution 1325. The committee also set its priorities for the current year.
Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher further revealed that discussions included the ongoing project to integrate women into the armed forces, which is nearing completion. Additionally, the committee reviewed the commemoration of International Women’s Day in the maritime sector, following a recent visit to the General Directorate of the Coast Guard, where the contributions of women in various operational roles were highlighted.
