KUWAIT: The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) announced on Thursday the start of asphalt paving works on the main roads of the South Saad Al-Abdullah City project, marking a major step as the development enters an advanced stage of infrastructure implementation. In a press statement, PAHW said this phase follows the completion of leveling works and the preparation of road and service networks, paving the way for linking the project areas through an integrated network that facilitates movement and supports final preparations for handing over housing plots to citizens.
The authority reported that the project’s actual completion rate has reached 46.36 percent as of September 2025, surpassing the contractual rate of 24.65 percent and reflecting an actual progress of 21.71 percent. It emphasized that all works are carried out according to the highest technical and engineering standards under the supervision of specialized teams, ensuring quality, sustainability, and adherence to project timelines. The South Saad Al-Abdullah City project is among Kuwait’s most strategic housing initiatives, reflecting the state’s vision to establish modern urban communities that meet the needs of Kuwaiti families and provide an integrated living environment.
Separately, Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan has confirmed that the ministry’s field teams continue to implement comprehensive road maintenance and asphalt projects according to scheduled timetables, ensuring efficiency and high-quality results across all six governorates. Engineer Noura Al-Mutairi, Contract Supervisor (18) in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, said ministry teams were present in the Al-Masayel area—Block 5—to monitor progress on new contracts for radical road maintenance. She noted that works include the application of a 5 cm thick asphalt layer (Type 3) and added that maintenance has been completed in Abu Ftaira (Blocks 6, 7, and 8) and Al-Masayel (Block 4), with work currently underway in Al-Masayel Block 5. — KUNA
