Customs chief inspects port, stresses vigilance against smuggling

KUWAIT: Director General of the General Administration of Customs Yousef Al-Nuwaif underscored the importance of strengthening coordination among customs departments to facilitate trade while safeguarding the country against smuggling attempts. Al-Nuwaif made the remarks in a press statement following an inspection tour of Shuwaikh Port’s Northern Ports Customs Administration and Failaka Island, accompanied by Deputy Director General for Research and Investigation Saleh Al-Omar.

He praised customs inspectors for their crucial role in supporting Kuwait’s security and economy, stressing the continuation of field follow-ups to enhance discipline, raise readiness and improve performance. Al-Nuwaif added that the Customs Administration is moving forward with its development plans to keep pace with global challenges in customs operations. The tour also included a visit to the Container Inspection Center, where the officials were briefed on work mechanisms and procedures designed to expedite transactions while ensuring compliance with customs regulations. — KUNA
