KUWAIT: Kuwaiti customs and security authorities have intensified efforts to combat smuggling and law violations, recording major successes across the country. The General Administration of Customs at Shuwaikh Port intercepted 3,037 bottles of alcohol hidden inside rollers of solid cables arriving from a European country. The operation, carried out under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, relied on intelligence from the Department of Customs Investigation and Research and the support of the General Fire Force.
Officers conducted a detailed inspection and unloading of a 20-foot container, revealing the professionally concealed bottles. Following the clearance of the container from other prohibited substances, the General Anti-Narcotics Administration and the Criminal Security Sector were provided with all shipment details to pursue legal action and apprehend the parties involved.
Separately, the Ministry of Interior, through the Criminal Security Sector, conducted a large-scale security campaign in Al-Rai in cooperation with the Public Fire Force, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM). The operation, overseen by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Maj Gen Hamed Al-Dawas and senior officials, led to the arrest of 207 violators, including 11 individuals with outstanding warrants.
Authorities also recorded 49 fire violations, closed one non-compliant shop, issued 59 commercial violation reports, and handed out notices for occupational safety and unauthorized work practices. Four itinerant workers were also apprehended. The authorities emphasized that these operations demonstrate high readiness, effective coordination between specialized agencies, and a firm commitment to enforcing law and order, strengthening Kuwait’s security framework and preventing the entry of prohibited materials.— KUNA
