KUWAIT: The Deanship of Student Affairs at Kuwait University (KU) announced on Sunday the launch of the “Cultural Cinema” initiative for the first time, in collaboration with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL). The initiative aims to promote cultural and artistic awareness among students and enrich university life with high-quality activities.
Acting Assistant Dean for Student Activities Dr Salem Al-Shammari said the initiative represents a significant addition to student activities at KU, with its inaugural screening scheduled for October 8 at the College of Arts. Dr Al-Shammari highlighted that the initiative blends education and entertainment, offering students new opportunities to explore history and cultural identity through cinema. He praised the collaboration with NCCAL and expressed hope that the initiative will serve as a permanent platform for enhancing artistic and cultural awareness among students.
The Cultural Cinema program will feature screenings of historical and documentary films showcasing key cultural and historical events and will be presented across various KU campuses, including Sabah Al-Salem University. The initiative will also include an exhibition of rare artifacts, documents and photographs from the history of Kuwaiti cinema, providing insight into the evolution of this art form and its role in shaping the nation’s cultural memory. — KUNA
