Ambassador praises Kuwait Times and Kuwait News for consistent coverage of Palestine
KUWAIT: Palestinian Ambassador to Kuwait Rami Tahboub reaffirmed his deep appreciation for Kuwait’s longstanding solidarity with the Palestinian people, while also commenting on the latest international developments surrounding Gaza. During a visit to Kuwait Times and Kuwait News, the ambassador praised the outlets for their consistent coverage of Palestine, stating “Kuwait has a special place in my heart. My family lived here, and during my university years, I used to read Kuwaiti newspapers. Since beginning my diplomatic work in Kuwait in 2013, I have seen how these publications dedicate significant space to the Palestinian cause and to the work of our Embassy.”
Tahboub highlighted the importance of the recent wave of international recognition of the State of Palestine, including by the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Canada, Malta, San Marino, Andorra, and Denmark, in addition to earlier recognition by Norway, Spain, Ireland, and Portugal, stressing that these decisions are not symbolic but a reaffirmation of the Palestinian people’s right to an independent state.

On the humanitarian front, he commended the “Global Sumud Flotilla,” which includes more than 50 ships carrying aid to Gaza, noting the significant role of Kuwaiti participants and recalling earlier efforts by Kuwaiti doctors who entered Gaza to perform life-saving operations. “This is not the first time our Kuwaiti brothers and sisters have sacrificed and risked their lives for Palestine,” he said.
He praised the efforts made by the Kuwaiti participating on the Global Sumud Flotilla – activists Abdullah Al-Mutawaa, Khalid Al-Abduljader and Dr Mohammed Jamal -, saying that the Kuwaiti, Arab, and international volunteers, always put their lives on the line to support the Palestinian people, adding “We wish them safety and hope that they achieve their humanitarian goals in this solidarity campaign, and that they return safely to their homelands.”
Commenting on the situation in Gaza, Tahboub rejected US President Donald Trump’s recent statements, stressing that they do not reflect the reality of the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding on the ground. He welcomed the strong positions taken by Jordan and Egypt, and emphasized the urgent need for international action to end the genocide. The ambassador concluded by expressing hope that the growing international recognition of Palestine, combined with regional and global solidarity, will help pave the way for a comprehensive peace process that ends the suffering of the Palestinian people and resolves a conflict that has persisted for more than 78 years.
