KUWAIT: The interior ministry announced on Monday state security officers arrested an Arab resident affiliated with a banned organization seeking to undermine Kuwait’s security, after investigations revealed he was planning a terrorist bombing targeting places of worship.

Following close monitoring, authorities raided his residence and found devices, materials used in making explosives and instructions on their preparation and use — proving the seriousness of the planned attack. The ministry affirmed it will firmly confront anyone attempting to threaten Kuwait’s security or the safety of citizens and residents.

Separately, the interior ministry announced on Monday the seizure of nearly half a million Captagon pills, 100,000 Lyrica capsules and two firearms found in the possession of two illegal residents. The ministry said the operation was launched after receiving information from a friendly country regarding the arrival of a large narcotics shipment into Kuwait. Investigations led to identifying the recipients, who were discovered to have prior drug-related offenses, it added. – KUNA
